School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering hosts the 2026 China-Russia Bilateral Teaching Seminar

On April 29th, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering held the China–Russia Bilateral Teaching Seminar at the Mingli Academic Lecture Hall. Valeriya Malomuzh, Deputy Vice-Rector for International Affairs of Saint Petersburg State University; and Hu Zhen, Vice Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Harbin Institute of Technology; together with faculty representatives from both sides, attended the seminar.


Since the launch of the chemistry joint education program between Harbin Institute of Technology and Saint Petersburg State University in 2022, both universities have steadily promoted talent training based on their respective disciplinary advantages. This seminar aimed to tackle key difficulties and bottlenecks in teaching cooperation and further advance the in-depth and expanded development of bilateral cooperation.


During the meeting, the two sides engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions based on their respective teaching practices, focusing on three core agendas: jointly constructing the curriculum system, sharing online teaching resources, and jointly compiling professional textbooks. Regarding the joint development of core professional courses, both sides agreed to focus on the core courses of the chemistry program, integrate the teaching characteristics of the two universities, optimize curriculum setup and teaching syllabi to realize complementary advantages in course content. Regarding the joint development of online teaching resources, both sides clarified that high-quality courseware, laboratory videos, academic lectures, and other resources would be integrated to overcome limitations of different places and time zones and enhance the flexibility and effectiveness of teaching. Regarding the joint compilation of textbooks, the two sides plan to establish an editorial team composed of key faculty members from both universities to develop professional textbooks that are scientific, innovative, and international in scope, in line with disciplinary frontiers and talent cultivation needs.


The meeting further clarified the direction of teaching cooperation between the two universities. As the next step, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering will further refine the reached consensus and implement relevant measures to deepen practical bilateral cooperation, continuously enhance the substance of cooperative education, and cultivate more high-level chemistry talents with an international perspective for the country.
