On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Harbin Institute of Technology, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering held the Alumni Teachers and Students Forum successfully on June 7 in order to consolidate their strength by reviewing history，and compose new brilliant in the future. All the faculty members of SCCE, retired teachers, domestic and international alumni, and the people who care about the development and the construction of SCCE from all walks of life took part in the forum online. Professor Meng Linghui, the secretary of the party committee of SCCE hosted the forum.
The forum kicked off in the video of The Centennial Development of SCCE. Old photos recorded the stories of generations of SCCEs and the extraordinary years they spent in school. At the same time, the alumni home and abroad produced videos to extend their wishes. The groups and individuals who made contributions to the school have been listed for thanking them for their long-term concerns and support.
Shi Pengfei, the founder of the electrochemical engineering specialty, spoke at the forum as a representative of the old teachers. He reviewed the unforgettable years of growing up together with school, witnessed the earth-shaking changes, and highly praised the remarkable achievements and the great value created in the commercialization of research findings. He expressed his hope that the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering can continue to work hard and create more greater glories.
Pei Yuchen, the first graduate of the Department of Applied Chemistry, Polymer Science and Engineering Specialty, who is also the chief expert in advanced material technology of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation，and Zhu Kai, the director of Shanghai Space Power Research Institute, spoke at the forum as alumni representatives. They recalled their studying experiences in SCCE and the selfless devotions of those old professors. Meanwhile, they shared their working experiences after they graduated from SCCE, and expressed that they will continue to adhere to the motto of HIT to make contributions for national rejuvenation and the development of China.
As student representative, Wang Yu, a PhD graduate of 2015 and winner of the “Top Ten Youth Entrepreneur Award of Heilongjiang Province”, shared his story of studying in HIT 10 years ago, establishing Wuxi Longchi Fluorosilicon New Materials Co., Ltd. in Wuxi New Materials Research Institute, and breaking the monopoly of American and Japanese enterprises in some relevant materials. He said he will practice the spirit of President Xi Jinping's letter of congratulation to HIT’s 100th anniversary and always keep Xi’s entrust “actively link personal development with the future and destiny of the country and be the hope of the nation” in mind to make new and greater contributions to the development of fluorosilicone industry in China.
At last, Dean Huang Yudong introduced the achievements got in faculty building, educating and teaching, scientific research and talent training over the past years. He said, standing in the new starting point of the New Century, facing the strategic overall situation of nation’s great rejuvenation and major unprecedented changes in the whole century, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering will be more united, strive to be the vanguard of scientific and technological innovation in the new era, and cultivate chemical talents with perseverance, good moral character, rich knowledge, excellent skills, and international vision for the country and the party. Gathering the wisdom and strength of all the SCCE’s faculty members, the school will compose its own brilliant in HIT’s new journey towards world-class university with Chinese characteristics !
