On May 18, a birch sap production line with a daily processing capacity of 250,000 bottles, designed by the Specialty Food, Medicine and Biochemical Engineering Team at Harbin Institute of Technology's School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, was officially put into operation at Jiufengshan Food Company in Yichun, Heilongjiang Province. This is currently the largest birch sap production line in China, marking a major breakthrough for the birch sap industry and injecting new momentum into Heilongjiang’s economic development.
Heilongjiang has abundant forest resources, with widespread birch tree distribution, offering great potential for the birch sap industry. To fully leverage these resource advantages and promote industrial upgrading, the Specialty Food, Medicine and Biochemical Engineering Innovation Research Team relied on its strong scientific research capabilities and extensive engineering experience to custom-design this production line for the enterprise. During project implementation, the team conducted in-depth studies on the characteristics of birch sap and introduced innovations in key processes including collection, processing, and preservation. They optimized production procedures and introduced advanced automated equipment and intelligent control systems to ensure efficient and stable operation. The production line not only processes 250,000 bottles daily, but also ranks among the leading levels nationwide in product quality, production efficiency, environmental protection, and energy conservation.
This production line will significantly enhance the birch sap processing capacity and industrial scale in Yichun and across Heilongjiang Province. It will also drive the development of related industries such as raw material collection and transportation, creating more employment opportunities and income for local farmers. As product supply grows, birch sap products are expected to further expand their market share, enhance the visibility and influence of Heilongjiang's specialty agricultural products, and promote regional economic development. This cooperation is also a vivid example of Heilongjiang’s efforts to promote deep collaboration among universities, research institutions, and enterprises, accelerating the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into practical applications.
