On16th and 17th Jan, the first Xiong Tao Cup-International Chemistry and Chemical Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was held at our school. Vice President Ren Nanqi met with some team instructors and addressed the opening ceremony.

The competition mainly focuses on Creating a Better Life Through Chemistry. The theme mainly coversseveral subjectssuch as new energy sources, novel materials and green chemistry as well as chemical industry, and food chemistry. A total of 22 teams from 15 schools at home and abroad participated in the competition. The universities participating in the competition include Cornell University in the United States, Khalfov National University of Food Industry in Ukraine, Zhejiang University, Sichuan University and Jilin University. These teams were divided into an innovation group and an entrepreneurial group. Through roadshows, posters and exhibitions, the teams showed their creative highlights, innovations and entrepreneurial models. In the end, the teams from our school and Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, won the Grand Prizes of the Entrepreneurship Group and Innovation Group, respectively. The first, second and third prizes of the competition were awarded as well.

During the competition, Academician Feng Shouhua of Jilin University and Professor from Cornell University made special academic reports, respectively.
